Hijacked Planes have hit the WTC in New York and the Pentagon
A Vicious Attack on freedom, humanity and democracy
Amsterdam, 12 September 2001.
On Tuesday morning September 11th 2001 two hijacked planes, shortly one after the other, have hit into the World Trade Center in New York. Minutes later a plane crashed into the Pentagon, the hart of the American defence.
An hour after the crash, the two towers of the WTC collapsed. The number of casualties are believed to be in the thousands.
All over the world governments and individuals have spoken out against this horrifying act of barbaric terrorism.
President Bush declared that there lies ahead "a monumental struggle of good versus evil, and that good will prevail."
The Dutch prime minister declared in parliament that "we are one with our American friends."
He promised that the International community "will not rest before the repugnant inflictors of this cowardly assault, these sick and terrorist minds, are being caught and sentenced. With the United States we will not be led by fear. The fundamentals of democracy will not be touched by even the most brute acts of terrorism."
Prime minister Blair declared in a press conference on Wednesday morning that the attack is not only an attack on the United States, but on the democratic world as a whole.
Bundeskansler Schroeder said that the German people stands firm next to the American people and that it is an act of war against the western world.
In France, President Chirac, declared its solidarity with the Americans and that Bush can count on his full support in the battle against terrorism.
The Uefa has cancelled all soccer matches in the European competition this week.
