Dutch Government positive on EU Commission proposals for Minimum standards of asylum conditions
Amsterdam, July 7 2001. In an information
"fiche"
to the Dutch parliament, the Dutch government indicates its positive attitude towards uniformed minimum standards of refugee shelter in the European Union.
The minimum standards that should be provided by the EU member states to refugees include material and immaterial provisions like:
- information about rights and duties,
- the supplying of documents,
- freedom of movement on the territory,
- medical provisions,
- education,
- jobs,
- housing and,
- allowances.
In its 'fiche' the governments states that it does not fear any consequences for present Dutch policies. because its asylum policies meet the standards already.
